NI Fieldbus Tools
 
This course is primarily for people performing diagnostics on fieldbus devices. Hands-on usage of National Instruments diagnostic tools will demonstrate diagnostic techniques and course concepts. This course expands upon the material presented in the Fundamentals of Fieldbus Technology course. By the end of this course, participants should gain an understanding of National Instruments fieldbus tools that allows them to perform troubleshooting effectively in the field.
 
Course Outline
  • Detailed concepts and applications of the terminology related to FF technology
  • Default and configured values
  • Basic communication mechanisms and related concepts using various troubleshooting tools
  • Installation and Usage of the following tools:
    • Communication Manager
    • Dialog
    • Configurator
    • Bus Monitor
  • Issues related to various control strategies, loop configurations, and device types used in target segments
  • Interaction of device descriptions and capabilities files
  • Hands-on training with actual fieldbus instruments
  • Independent troubleshooting in the field

Background and Prerequisites
The course assumes completion of Fundamentals of Fieldbus Technology. Review of the Fieldbus Inc. Fieldbus Primer would help prepare and provide background for some of the concepts covered. A National Instruments Configurator is required for this course. Please contact FI for special course related packages.
